Kids Hate Chores
It is true, KIDS HATE CHORES! And I think they should!
Kids know that “chore” means work, that work is not fun, and that in the national unspoken kid’s code they are supposed to hate chores.
Here are four tips to get your kids to do their chores.
Tip #1 - CALL THEM DAILIES
Kids are resistant to the word “chore.” So, I suggest you call them “Dailies,” something they must do daily! This word alone helps your child associate what needs to be done and the timeline it should be done in.
Tip #2 - LIMIT THEM
Limit the number of dailies to five. This will help them remember what they are supposed to do easier. If your child is younger than five only give them as may dailies as their age. 3-year-old = 3 dailies
Tip #3 - BE REAL
You will always, always, always have to remind your child to do their dailies. No cute chart or magnet board from Etsy will prevent this.
Tip #4 -FOCUS MOMMA FOCUS
Chores or dailies is not about getting your child to work so you do not have to. It is all about teaching responsibility, preferring others, and being a team player.
Remember friend….
If you want a clean house, hire a housekeeper.
Want responsible kids, give them dailies.
Want crabby kids, make a chore chart.
